Fall Too Well

Some love stories make you smile, some make you ache, and then there are the ones that completely steal your heart. Everly and Nash were absolutely that for me. I fell so hard for these two and their story of friendship, history, healing, and finding your way back to the person who may have been meant for you all along.

Everly, a single mom who has been through more than her fair share, was such an easy character to root for. I loved watching her rediscover pieces of herself and begin to realize that she deserves happiness, love, and a life that feels like her own again. There was something so beautiful about seeing her confidence slowly return, and this line captured that perfectly:

“Who knew good friendship and red lipstick could change a woman’s life?”

Sometimes it really is the smallest things and the right people beside you, that remind you who you are.

And then there’s Nash. Her childhood friend. Her longtime crush. The person who has known her through so many different versions of herself. Their connection felt incredibly special because it wasn’t built on attraction alone. There was already this deep foundation of friendship, trust, familiarity, and genuine love between them. Every moment between the two of them carried the weight of their shared history, which made watching their relationship evolve into something more feel that much sweeter.

One of my favorite quotes from the entire story was, “Soulmates come in the form of friends, too. It’s someone who makes you feel whole and who understands you the most when the rest of the world doesn’t seem to understand you at all.”

That sentiment feels like the heart of Everly and Nash’s relationship. Before anything else, they understand one another. There’s a comfort between them that can only come from truly knowing someone: the good parts, the messy parts, the past, the mistakes, and everything in between and choosing them anyway.

Their romance also felt like such a beautiful reminder that sometimes love doesn’t arrive when life is perfectly put together. Sometimes it comes after heartbreak, disappointment, growing up, and taking a completely different path than you imagined. If anyone deserved another chance at love and happiness, it was Everly and Nash. Watching them realize that maybe what they had been searching for was right in front of them made my heart so incredibly happy.

I also loved how much this story explored the idea of chosen family. “One thing I’ve learned is that family isn’t always the one you come from. It’s the one that you make.”

That message resonated so strongly throughout the book. Family can be the people who show up, who love you without conditions, who protect your heart, and who make you feel like you belong. I loved seeing Everly surrounded by people who reminded her that she didn’t have to carry everything alone.

This was so much more than a childhood friends to lovers romance for me. It was about second chances not only at romantic love, but at happiness, friendship, family, and becoming the version of yourself you thought you had lost somewhere along the way.

Everly and Nash completely won me over. Their relationship was tender, comforting, emotional, and full of the kind of history that makes a romance feel earned. I wanted these two to find their way to each other so badly, and watching them do exactly that was incredibly satisfying.

If you love childhood friends to lovers, single-mom romances, second chances, found family, and couples who genuinely feel like best friends as much as they feel like soulmates, this is definitely one to add to your list.
