Her Dark Lies

“We all want to be remembered for something. We have children, we paint, we write, we fight, we conquer. We leave behind marks on the fabric of humanity, and while some are content to stay in the background, some of us want to make those marks as vivid and overwhelming as possible. We don't just want to be remembered. We want to be unforgettable.”

It’s supposed to be “the wedding of the year”. Set off the Italian coastline, Isle Isola is a majestic cliff-top villa that’s owned by the Compton family. Clair Hunter, an up-and-coming artist is set to marry Jack Compton, surrounded by only family, close friends, and maybe a few dark secrets as well. It should be an idyllic setting for a wedding but there’s a storm brewing, both literally and figuratively. Will Claire and Jack say “I do” or does someone have other plans in store for the two?

I’ve read a few books by J.T. Ellison previously, Lie To Me, and Good Girls Lie, so I was already familiar with her writing when this one came out and snatched it up from the library quickly. And this one didn’t disappoint either. It might start out slow for some of you, if you don’t enjoy a lot of background information on the island, villa, and people, all of which I enjoy myself.

But it does pick up and is a fast read, once you get into the story itself. There are plenty of twists, turns, and surprises along the way, even when you think you know who is behind everything and why. So, if you enjoy a good thriller, this is the perfect book for you!

I gave this one ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5.
